After releasing the chart topping Silent Alarm in 2005, Bloc Party hits the sophomore slump. Silent Alarm was a grand firework show, but A Weekend in the City is a dud firecracker. There’s no raw energy on a single track, the lyrics suck, and I still can’t find one solid hook. This record is one of the biggest disappointments of the year. Bloc Party needs to stop listening to Coldplay and U2 and grow some balls. So lame.
