Matthew Herbert
Scale
[3/5]
If Sufjan Stevens ever started an electronic band it would sound a lot like Mathew Herbert’s Scale. Not to say that its folk music, it just has that same loftiness and joy for life. It’s a very toned down album in the sense that it never takes off into chaos; much like a Thievery Corporation album. The constant down tempo beats keep you cruising through a series of love songs and progressions. The pull-back for this album is that it sounds a little too “girly” in a somewhat 60s-70s disco manner. That sound just isn’t always my cup of tea.
